How to Upgrade on a Budget

Pay attention to the smaller details, as those are the ones that go a long way. 

  • Reevaluate Retail. The first step to take when breaking down your business is to reevaluate retail. Take notes of which products are selling quickly, upgrade your product display area and make sure your employees are well-educated about products. When taking note of which products are selling quickly, speak to clients and spa staff to receive feedback for which new products to bring in. Next, upgrade the product display area. Make sure testers are available so clients and patients can try before they buy. Organize the product display area and provide a well-lit display that is enticing to clients. Last, make sure employees are well-educated about products so they will be able to explain them correctly. If not described enticingly, the spa could lose the sale.
  • Consider Competition Comparison. Always consider and compare your competition. For example, if someone is gaining more clients than you, review why that may be. Call local spas to see how they answer the phone. When calling, you could do this yourself and take notes on the positive things they are saying so that you can incorporate that into the way your spa answers the phone.
  • Maximize Marketing. Perform a social media audit. Look to see which staff members are posting about the spa and what type of feedback they are receiving. Then, research popular websites like Yelp and Facebook to see what people are saying about the spa. Lastly, utilize internal marketing by making customized brochures or treatment cards for clients.
